Lake Eugenia is located near Flesherton and Owen Sound. The main fish species in the lake include, Largemouth Bass, Rock Bass, Perch, Sunfish and Bullhead catfish. Although the lake is known for its largemouth bass fishery. The key to finding the Lake Eugenia largemouth bass is to look for the stump beds, they hold the largest bass, but be prepared for snags. Slow fishing plastic worms, or jig 'n pigs in the stump beds can produce some lunker bass. Spinnerbaits can also be very productive on cloudy or windy days. Night fishing on full moon nights casting a topwater tiny torpedo (yellow belly) can be deadly.
Due to the relatively shallow nature of Lake Eugenia and plentiful forage base, the perch do well. They can be found almost anywhere in the lake, although weed beds in 7-10 feet are most productive. A variety of techniques work well on Lake Eugenia perch, although the most common method used is simply floating a worm or minnow under a bobber. Bottom fishing with perch rigs can also be productive, with the bonus bass caught on occasion. Many anglers target the many small bays, which can be very dense with weeds in summer. Small spinners or curly tail jigs fished in and around the weed pockets can produce some nice jumbos.
Lake Eugenia boasts a very healthy catfish population. This is mainly due to the primarily soft bottom and abundant forage. Brown bullhead catfish can be easily taken using conventional bottom fishing techniques or still fishing with worms. They can be found literally anywhere in the lake, although the deeper sections of Lake Eugenia are most productive. Night fishing with chicken livers can be deadly, especially in the spring.
